Details + Agenda
Industrial networks are more connected—and more critical—than ever. But with that increased connectivity comes complexity, risk, and the need for a deeper understanding of how systems communicate and where failures occur.
Join us for this hands-on Red Lion training focused on network topology, security, and troubleshooting in industrial environments. This session is designed to give you a practical understanding of how LAN and WLAN networks operate both inside the panel and across your broader infrastructure.
Led by Jeff Marcum, Network Specialist, this course goes beyond theory, helping you identify communication breakdowns, understand how data moves through your network, and implement strategies to improve reliability and security.
Through instructor-led discussion and real-world examples, attendees will gain experience with:
- Core principles of industrial network topology
- Differences between copper, fiber, and wireless communication media
- Understanding network layers and how data flows across them
- Network Address Translation (NAT) and routing fundamentals
- Security risks in industrial networks and how to mitigate them
- User authentication and credential management strategies
- Secure remote access considerations
- Identifying and diagnosing communication failures
- Basic network traffic analysis and troubleshooting techniques
Cost: Free to attend (limited space - Register Now)
Who Should Attend: Controls engineers, Instrumentation & Electrical (I/E) Professionals, Automation Engineers working with industrial networks, Maintenance and operations personnel responsible for network uptime.

What Others are Saying
Discover how this training has helped others to understand networks better, build network resilience, and reduce security vulnerabilities.
"I appreciated how practical this was. The section on troubleshooting and identifying communication failures was especially helpful. I can take that straight back to my plant."
"For a short class, they packed in a lot of useful info. The security section was a big eye-opener, especially around remote access risks and credential management."
"Very approachable for someone who isn’t a full-time IT person. I work more on the controls side, and this helped bridge that gap."
